TURN: Pause, Listen, and Choose to Follow Jesus
Turning is the act of reorienting one's life toward Jesus and his teachings. It involves pausing to reflect on one's spiritual journey, recognizing the need for change, and committing to follow Christ more intentionally. This could involve repentance, self-examination, or simply taking a moment each day to listen for God's guidance. By turning toward God, individuals open themselves to transformation, seeking truth, love, hope, justice, and freedom in their daily lives.
In a spiritual sense, turning is closely connected to the biblical concept of repentance, or metanoia, meaning a change of heart and direction. It reminds us that small, daily choices can bring us closer to Jesus. Turning is not a one-time event but an ongoing process, because faith itself is a lifelong journey of returning to God again and again.
There are many practical ways to turn toward love each day: journaling about ways to align actions with faith, seeking reconciliation in relationships, or participating in confession, whether privately or communally. Each of these practices creates space for renewal and reorientation toward God.
Call to Action: Do you need to turn back to God in your life? Take time to reflect on a personal “turning point” in your faith journey and consider how God may be inviting you to turn toward Him today.
